From her soulful music career as a member of Prince’s New Power Generation to her breakthrough acting role in the hit series Upload to her recent dive into the culinary world, Andy Allo has never confined herself to a single path.
In the face of cultural worries about personal brands and instant categorization, Andy’s only focus is expansion—staying true to herself while following her interests and the opportunities that open up in the process.
For Andy, growth isn’t about mastering one thing; it’s about a constant personal evolution that embraces challenge and risk. Resistance is growth, she says, so there’s no reason to turn away from it. It’s the reason she’s found success on so many fronts, and we’re pretty sure she’s got more curveballs for her fans in the years ahead as she leans further into writing and directing. And of course, her pop-up restaurants.
It was a lot of fun to sit down with Andy to hear more about what she means by creative expansion and to talk about the difficulties of being a perfectionist. She’s got a lot of wisdom for someone so young, and we think you’re going to love what she has to say on this latest episode of The Resistance.
