Stephen Tracey has one of those careers that keeps quietly expanding in all directions.

You’ve likely seen him in Invasion, Anne with an E, The Expanse, or Good Sam, but what stands out when you sit with him isn’t the résumé. It’s the way he talks about the work. Trained at the National Theatre School of Canada, Stephen laughs at the fact that he’s yet to make his stage debut, but he’s very tuned into the way that opportunities—even those he didn’t get—are turning points and opportunitites for growth.

On this episode of The Resistance, Stephen opened up to us about the beauty of being in the flow of the work, how a character unexpectedly echoed his own ancestry, and why he feels a pull toward creating something from his own point of view. It’s a candid conversation with an actor committed to listening for the right voices to pull him forward.
